Tom Of Finland – 1957
In cooperation with the Tom Of Finland Foundation, Men.com brings us the first of five episodes filmed by renowned directors and inspired by Tom Of Finland’s highly masculine homoerotic artwork.
First of all, if you have no idea who Tom Of Finland is, ready this! And if you don’t like to ready, look here! Now that we are on the same page, let’s talk about Men.com and Tom Of Finland – 1957! Of course I was surprised to hear about this cooperation. The porn studio run by a straight company, and the iconic gay porn illustrator. Although of course the ToF Foundation is not the same as the person Tom of Finland.
I remember the days where SeanCody was the hottest gay porn site on the web. I still haven’t met a person who believes the site has improved since it was sold to MindGeek, the company that also owns Men.com. In the end, it’s all about money. And fact is, MindGeek has the money. But to be honest, currently no other studio comes to mind that could have pulled this off.
And I am pretty impressed by the outcome. Judging by what I have seen, the first of 5 episodes, Tom Of Finland – 1957. For these five episodes, they got renown creatives on board: Cory Krueckeberg, Bruce LaBruce, Terry Miller, Matt Lambert and Casey Spooner (formerly of Fischerspooner). Each one of them directing one episode.

I am not a film critic, just a gay porn blogger. But I think the transition from Tom Of Finland‘s artwork into contemporary web-based gay pornography has been achieved quite well here. The cast is great, the location as well. I even see and enjoyed the underlying current of humor and irony of ToF’s artwork, that director Bruce LaBruce mentions in the Men.com press release.
And half way through the episode, the action here even gets pretty hot. I must admit, that I am a big fan of Theo Brady, ever since he first appeared on GuysInSweatPants. He even shows some acting talents here. And in the end, gets double fucked by Matthew Camp and Kurtis Wolfe.
The full series will be released in monthly episodes. The first three are period pieces based on classic Tom of Finland works. Followed by a contemporary episode set in 2020. And the final episode of the series will be set in the future, re-imagining Tom of Finland for a new generation.
